Biodegradable Products
Why Use Our Biodegradable Products
Traditional plastic and styrofoam disposables
are made from petroleum based chemicals and additives. These products
cause pollution and toxicity every step of their use-extraction,
transportation, refining and production of end use product.
Literally millions of pounds of plastic and Styrofoam
products end up in landfills every year. Unfortunately, products
like these do not break down until hundreds of years later, and
even then sometimes deposit toxins into the earth.
Based on data from the EPA, 730 thousand tons
of styrofoam and plastic plates and cups are disposed of annually.
Using 10 grams weight for each cup and plate, 73 Billion plates
and cups are disposed of every year in the U.S.
Most disposable hot beverage cups are coated
with a Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE), a petrochemical plastic.
LDPE, which often is ingested, is not renewable and non-compostable
and makes the only methods of disposal litter, landfill and incineration.
40 billion polystyrene utensils are thrown out
nationally on an annual basis, which creates tens of millions
of pounds of solid waste.
Our products we offer will lessen an organization’s
impact on the environment (i.e. decreased soil and water contamination,
decreased amount of solid waste in landfills, reduced fossil fuel
usage, etc.)
Our biodegradable food service disposables provide
a sustainable alternative to styrofoam, plastic and paper products,
as they are made from renewable sources, take less energy to manufacture,
are not made from toxic or pollution causing sources, reduce the
amount of solid waste generated and will not contaminate the soil
or water.
Aside from their ability to break down, the products
we offer are sturdy and durable, able to stand up to the same
use as comparable items. They will easily replace any conventional
disposable products currently used for food service and not sacrifice
quality.
